How To Root & Unroot LG G2 All Variants In Easy & Safe Way

Hello Fandroids, this is a step by step tutorial to show Rooting and Unrooting of LG G2 in all variants. This tutorial show you a safe method to root and unroot your LG G2 without a data loss and without harming your device unless you will do something wrong during following my instructions. Dont use rooting to pirate applications and games, only use it for productive work. I am showing you this tutorial,  because lot of people are worried about LG G2 software keys and they want to hide them to take a full advantage of LG G2 display while playing games and watching movies on their G2 . However rooting helps you to overclock  CPU speed  as well as many other things. But to keep it simple stay with the basics.

 HOW TO ROOT

Before starting rooting process you dont have to make a backup of your device because this will not wipe a data from your phone just simply follow below instruction to get root access on your phone

STEP 1

Download a  VRoot Tool Kit to Root your LG G2 and install it on your PC from a below link

http://cdnpic.mgyun.com/files/products/vRoot/2013/17235968/VRoot_1.7.0.3882_Setup.exe

STEP 2

Now you have to get in to your phone setting like a below picture and you have to select General

Press About Phone from General and you will see a window like a below picture

Now press Software Information and you will see a below picture like window on your phone

Now here you have to hit Build Number may be 5 or 6 times repeatedly because it will give us developer options like below picture in General

Now enter in to developer options and Enable USB Debugging like a Below Picture

STEP 3:

Now open up a Vtool Kit  that you have installed in Step 1 in your PC and it will look like a below picture

Here all the things are written in Chinese, but dont get worried just simply connect your phone with your PC using a micro usb cable which comes up with the phone and you will see a window like below picture on your phone and you have to press ok here

Vroot Kit will show you your LG G2 logo like a below picture in it when you press ok in your phone

Now just simply click root and enjoy a full root on your device

Now once it rooted your  phone get restarted and you will see Super Su in your device like a below picture that means you have successfully rooted your device.

So guys now you have super user installed on your device and you can download GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys from play store to hide your software keys like a below picture, you just have to grant access to super su once you open GMD and then you can easily hide your software keys.

HOW TO UNROOT

Before starting a Unrooting process make sure you have made a full back up of your phone so you will not loose any data because unrooting will wipe all the things on your phone except you external sd card files.

STEP 1:

Download LG Software Update Tool Kit from LG site from a below Link and install it on your computer:

After installing it open it and connect your phone with your PC so it will install all the neccessary drivers in to your PC , if all the drivers get installed properly you see a window like below picture on your PC with LG G2 logo display on LG Software Tool and you have to enable a LG Software option in your phone by dropping down a notification bar and selecting a USB connected option

If still you wouldnt able to download drivers then close Lg Software Tool and download them manually from this link : http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+Optimus+G+Pro%2FPrograms%2F

STEP 2

Download LG G2 Flashing tool kit from a below link and extract it using a Winrar

After downloading this file you have to download a stock firmware for your device from a link below

http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+G2%2FStock%2F

This site look like a below picture and you have to download a correct firmware for you LG G2 variant

After downloading firmware make sure your phone is not connected with the PC because we are going to turn off our phone to get in to a downloading mode. Turn off your phone now and once its get completely off Hold Volume Up Key + Insert a Micro USB cable in to your phone until you will see a below picture on your phone

Now get into Flash Tool and open UpTestEX like a below picture

Now we have Openned R&D Test Tool window and here we have to adjust some of the things. In Select Type Field  we have to choose 3GQCT (top left hand side) and In Phone Mode we have to choose DIAG (top right hand side). Now lastly you have to select a stock firmware of your LG G2 which you have download by pressing Select kdz file.  Once all these things selected they will look like a below picture.

Now  press Normal web upgrade test which is appearing at bottom right hand side of R& D tool. You will see another window like below picture and once you see it press Upgrade Start

Now finally window like below picture pop out from your pc

Now press ok and software installation will be started if you see any error msgs on your pc ignore them and keep the process going on until your phone get fully update (this process is going to take little bit of more time as you are installing a stock firmware on your LG G2). Phone will also take its time to boot up a system because its installing all the new things.

After following these steps all of you can easily root and unroot your LG G2, if you have any questions just leave your comments here.

  8. Hello! Like an idiot, I accidentally accepted the OTA software update after rooting my device. The phone is "stuck" in an infinite boot loop...the phone boots up, then updates applications and then reboots. This process repeats over and over again.

I may have further complicated the situation by trying to run the factory restore. Unfortunately, the phone continues to loop...except now it updates fewer applications and the phone is probably no longer in debug mode.

I tried running the steps above to un-root the phone. However, when I press "Upgrade Start" I get the following notification..."LG Mobile Phone S/W Upgrade is already running."

I'm afraid I might have bricked or soft-bricked my phone. Any help/suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated.
